Those three words, said too much. Yet, not enough.

Lately, I have been thinking a lot about love. No particular reason why, as I am not currently in love. But I enjoy musing on what I think it could be like. Maybe all the movies and love songs have idealized it for me, but I am in love with the idea of being in love. I want all that cuteness, the cheesy and the truly romantic. One day I’ll have it, that I don’t doubt. Maybe that’s why I love pick up lines and serenades. I am dying to find the right guy and be in love. But I’m in no hurry, I’m willing to wait for the right person. And while we’re on this topic, I really do think that you can meet your soul mate at any time.  You never know who might be absolutely perfect for you. Unfortunately, it might be the wrong time, or you also might not notice until it is much too late (as was my case). Hopefully, it will work itself out in the end. Because if it’s not alright, it’s not the end.
This brings me to the topic of love songs, romance novels, and films that have gushy romances involved. I don’t know about all of you, but I just love it. Don’t get me wrong, on my bad days they just make me sad and ask why I don’t get to have that right now. But I know my time is coming, so I will wait patiently. In the meantime, I will watch 10 Things I Hate About You and wish that I had a boy who would sing “Can’t Take My Eyes Off  Of You” and dance on the bleachers for me. Or sing along to The Beach Boys, “God Only Knows” and wish that a certain person was singing it to me. Or “Chasing Cars” by Snow Patrol, the love song I didn’t realize at first was a love song. Films also make me want what in my mind would be a perfect relationship, like Carl and Ellie from Up. So in love, even as cartoons. I know that entertainment gives us an idealized version of love, but maybe that is what we as a society needs. An unreal perfect standard to live up to. I will spend my entire life trying to find someone as perfect for me as my favorite characters do in novels and movies. My heart will always go mushy for things like this, and maybe one day I’ll get it too. And yes, I realize that love isn’t always this way, and that a lot of the time big gestures never happen. But I’ll settle for a guy grabbing my hand, or pushing my hair back when it get in my eyes. I don’t need a huge gesture, I just want to be feel cared about.
Love isn’t based on any of this, and I don’t pretend to understand love. I just know that it is something I want to experience one day. I want to find the person who makes my heart jump out of my chest and the butterflies to explode in my stomach. And hopefully, one day I will. Until then, I’ll just keep singing.

"I may not always love you

But long as there are stars above you
You never need to doubt it
I'll make you so sure about it
God only knows what I'd be without you"
- Beach Boys

Making the hipsters fall in love.

Mini rant of the day:

I have a style that is referred to nowadays as "hipster" or "indie". I personally have an issue with this. Mostly because I don't dress to fit a label, I dress to how I feel that day or that moment. I sometimes have a theme, or an idea in mind. I do like thrift store finds and vintage, but I also like clothes I find at Target. And maybe American Apparel is just so damn comfortable. My personal style is a mix of influences, and I really hate to be labeled.  And beyond that, what movies I like and what I like to read is also being put into a category as well. Maybe I just like mustaches, Toy Story and Alice In Wonderland. This used to be just strange, not cool. I am constantly changing, and therefore how can I fit into a box? But I am not a hipster. Or indie. Maybe a hippie, but that's because I like to hug trees and I love pretty much everyone. That i just my ideals, not my surface appearance. I like what I like and I do what I want. I used to be weird, and now I'm hip. Weird how that works out, isn't it?

It's The Dawning of The Age of Aquarius

Tonight I saw Hair, the original rock musical. And can I just say, dancing on stage to "Let The Sunshine In" is probably one of the highlights of my life. I did my final theater history research on Hair, so I have a peculiar attachment. I see myself as a modern day hippie, and connect on many levels with Hair.

But mostly, I am just obsessed with late 60's, early 70's fashion. In fact, I am known to live in torn up cut off Levi's and corchet tops the second the temperatures hit the high 80's. As a former musical costumer, my dream is to costume this musical. Which led me to looking up images from the original rock musical, and then looking at photographs from the actual "hippie days".

Current Obsession: Origami Jewelry

I am currently obsessed with silver origami necklaces. Unfortunately, this is not something that is commonly found, and when it is it is BEYOND expensive. Or only sold in France. Poo. But instead of being all sad, I will share the gorgeousness with you, my readers. Bask in the beauty.

I believe...

I believe that we never stop dreaming and wishing. I believe that you never truly outgrow amusement parks, and that boys look better dressed in clothes from the 1940’s. I believe that sunrises are a hundred times more romantic than sunsets. I believe that zombies are more badass than vampires and that a love song can be just about any song. I believe that you can meet your soul mate at any time, but it might not work out right then and there. I believe that growing up is for suckers, you never have to be old and boring if you don’t want to be. I believe that rules are guidelines and if they don’t need to be followed, I’m not going to. I believe that a smile can change your whole day, and that sunshine can emit from people. I believe in the goodness of people, even though sometimes it’s so hard to find. I believe that music is good for the soul, and every soul is different so everyone needs different music. I believe that books are the perfect escape plan. I believe in love, even if I’m not quite sure what it is yet. I believe in dancing in the rain and laughing until your stomach hurts. I believe that you can will hair to grow and that everything happens for a reason. I believe in wishing on stars and 11:11 and dandelions. I believe that boys aren’t just here to break our hearts, and hopefully one will prove it to me.  I believe that you should be who you are, and everyone needs to just stop worrying. I believe in blowing bubbles, both soap and bubblegum. I believe you can have fun without influences. I believe that toe socks and footie pajamas can keep anyone warm.  I believe in chasing the clouds and dancing in public. I believe that there is magic in everything. I believe in making a fool of yourself in every situation. I believe in singing my heart out, on key and off. I believe in the people who are wrong in all the right ways, and letting my colors burst. I believe that candy can make almost anyone feel better, and lollipops are the best medicine for the mean reds. I believe in cheesy pickup lines and bad puns.  I believe in Wonderland, Never Never Land and Tomorrow Land. I believe in watching the clouds float by, and picking flowers with no motive.  I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that tomorrow is another day and that this too, shall pass. I believe that everyone should keep on believing.

Monday Inspirations

I almost forgot, BUT then I remembered that I promised to do Monday Inspirations. I don't even think anyone actually reads this blog, but just in case, I like to keep my promises.
